Stretched Rods for compression bump
 

Hi,

I am considering stretched rods for a compression bump in my 930 turbo rebuild.

I am looking at running a twin turbo setup with twin plugged heads and 935 cam shafts. I have a carrera intake and electromotive tec3 for fuel and spark.

I do not like so much lag (the twin setup should help with that) and am thinking about bumping the compressions.

What are the thoughts and is the stretched rods the way to do it.

At first glance it seems like a nice way to up the compression without altering the chain geometry (as removing material from the head or spigots would). Unfortunately, the pistons are already pretty close to the heads so there is very little room to move the piston up without getting your deck height too small.
I'd look for another way.

A simple machine process to reestablish deck is all you need.
By stretching the rods you also address the short rod issue inherent in the 3.3 rod length to stroke ratio. We've done it and the results are good.
Less lag from increased comp. and freer spinning engine as the result of reduced rod angularity.
