4 bearing camhousing with mfi cams?

Can anybody tell me if newer , 3.2 style camhousings intended for 4 bearing cams, would work if i put in older mfi cam's?

punching out the blockling plate (for mfi drive) doesn't seem to be a problem..

and i suspect that the missing bearing on the cam won't cause any problem with the cam housing otherwise?

could anybody confirm?

i have a good set from a 3.2, and it was leak free at the rocker shafts, no scratches in the bores.... so if possible i want to use these over some set i still have to find and that potentially has scratches in the bores that result in leaks...

Stijn,

No, the later cams have larger journal diameters.

If you want to use four-bearing camshafts you must add the MFI drive on the end, which is usually an extra-cost option.

Conversely, if you want to use original MFI cams you will need to find serviceable cam towers. Which way do the scratches run? Side to side or radially around the bore? What is the bore measurement?

dammit, just measured them , you're right , 32's are 2mm bigger

don't have mfi cam housings.... i'm bartering my way to a full set of engien parts

have mfi cams

have 3.2 cam+housings

need mfi cam's & housings

i'll talk to cam grinder, i need to have the cams reground anyway , maybe he can tell me if he can add the mfi drive easely , or if i'm better off working with mfi cams and scoring older cam housings...

thx John...
