What would Henry Schmidt do......

So....I pulled then engine on my cream puff 82 SC (2nd owner, 65k miles) to reseal it. (Had a gusher from driver side cam tower). When I pulled the valve covers I found 2 head studs in there....

So....my question is what can you do to a 3L to improve performance? Change outP & C's to allow for bigger cams? Stroke it?

I have a set of 40 PMO's to finish this project...

Does the car need to pass smog tests?

Is it going to be a street car?

Whats your budget?

A properly-cammed, 3.2 litre motor with PMO's and a proper exhaust can be made to run VERY well. :)

Twin-ignition would be a big plus.

I'm not sure about the rest...but I guarantee that Henry would use Supertec head studs.

Well Steve...you pretty much hit the nail on the head for what I was considering...we do get 93 octane down here in Floriduh.....

But I think the cost would put me back to another 3.6 conversion....not that there's anything wrong with that......;)

Fint, the Supertecs are definitely on my list...:D

If your budget is like mine, here's what I would do.

With 65K on the engine you can count on reusing the pistons and cylinders. Hoping they are Mahle Nikasil
I would put valve pockets in your 9.3 :1 cis pistons, DC40 cams w/John's springs, port intakes to 39mm and install your 40mm PMOs and SSI exhaust and M&K muffler. 240+ hp
Head studs are optional but I appreciate the plug. With an engine like this you could just replace the Delivar with steel studs.

Now if you have a budget like the Pentagon, 3.2 short stoke, Carrillo rods, ported to 40mm, ty valves, DC80 cam w/Supertec valve springs and ty retainers, Supertec twin plug, Supertec stainless steel exhaust, M&K muffler, Aluminum flywheel, custom built MFI and of course Supertec head studs. 320+ hp.

Henry,
