Look what i've been up to............
|
OK, and what's next???
|
Well i finished the rebuild, made some fuel rails, installed the bitzracing injector bungs, got some injectors, finished making and modifying the megasquirt, and test fit an almost done custom intake box. So now i need to install any nipples i need onto the intake box, install the motor/tranny into the car, finish the wiring, start it using tony's base fuel maps, clean up the fuel maps specific to this motor (do a little wide band tuning), drive it for a little while to make sure the engine stays in one piece, then sell it.
|
Is there an advantage to this manifold over a 3.2 intake manifold?

Progress is a good thing.
How do you make it seal with the rivets? Why not weld it? Why not use AN fittings on the fuel rails as opposed to the brass nipples? Doug |
What are you trying to accomplish with it?? Does it weigh less, than stock? Does it run cooler? ( Cooling fins?) or still require a pop-off valve? Some might think it looks like R2-D2 is taking a nap on your engine, I think it looks pretty cool... And the fact that you have the "only one like it" is also a plus.

Those aren't rivets, they are wide flat topped screws, the machinist that made it had a hard on for screws, don't ask me why. I would have welded it together as well, but since he was doing it for free i didn't question it. As far as sealing it, i used an industrial loctite used in the industry for sealing high pressure pipe flanges together.
The brass nipples i used were readily available and get the job done. Plus the generic blank fuel rails i used are .5" diameter inside, so a 1/4 NPT tap taps into it perfectly. I mainly wanted it so that it would dress up the engine bay a little, and also handle boost in the future. Besides it's a good selling point when i try and get rid of it. BTW, i've made more progress so if anyone wants more pictures i'd be glad to post them up later tonight. |
