Boring intake manifolds and heads?
hey Guys,
I'm building a psuedo-2.7RS engine. I've got a couple of questions on intake and head bores. 1) I've got the 2.7S heads at 35mm. What advantage do I get by taking it out to the RS-spec 36mm? 2) I've got a set of Weber 40's that I plan to run on this engine, but right now they have the smaller intakes attached to them (32mm?). Can I bore these intakes out, or do I need to look for larger intake manifolds to start with? I haven't decided on cam choice. It will be primarily a fun street engine with some DE/open track time. I may end up going with one of camgrinder's options (DC40 maybe?). Will I be able to retain better low end torque by keeping the intakes at 35mm? Again, I don't need to beat anyone to the next corner, but I also want to make sure I'm not leaving anything on the table while I'm going through this build. Thanks for looking at yet one more 2.7RS related question. I've done my best to read all of the past posts on this board, and there is enough data out here to make your head spin. Dion |
I'd leave your ports at 35mm. You can bore your manifolds but It would be better to buy the taller manifolds from PMO. The taller manifolds help the low end torque.
