Greg,
What do the cylinders look like? Can you post a photo? Cast-iron fins didn't come in until 1968 with the 911T, so they could be two-liter, or they could be 84mm from a 2,2 or 2,4 E. But it's hard to tell without photos. The 901/06 had a reduced performance camshaft called the 911L cam. Its specifications are: I opens 20 BTDC I closes 34 ABDC E opens 40 BBDC E closes 6 ATDC Compare that with the Solex from the 901/01 and 901/05, which is I opens 29 BTDC I closes 39 ABDC E opens 39 BBDC E closes 19 ATDC and you can see it's a reduced-performance cam. It was intended to maintain the 901/06 at 130 HP even though the later "SSI-style" heat exchangers, which were introduced for the 911S, would have bumped power to 140HP. This narrowing of the power difference was unacceptable to the marketing department, hence the change to the cam. |
Photos will tell if it has 80mm or 84mm cylinders. Cast-iron fins are from the '68+ 911T, but these cylinders fit right on to a 2.0L with no mods.
