cracked rod bushing
Ok- i'm almost all the way disassembled for my top end rebuild on my '85 3.2. I decided to pull the P&C's to inspect, and I found the rod bushing on #2 has a hairline crack. #4 is just starting to crack. Both started at a point where it seems the busing is peened into the rod- there is a small nick at one point on each bushing on the outside edge. What do I need to do here? Re-bush the rods?
Thanks!!

the bushings do have a split. kind of tongue and groove looking. never hurts to renew the rod bushings anyway if you're into it that far. extra clearance there can add some unwanted notes to the "symphony of steel". rod bearings, bolts and nuts too, as long as they're out.

Thanks John- there's that symphony of steel thing again! Where on the bushing is the split? Maybe what I am looking at is part of the split- it is just a harline, but egough that you can catch your fingernail on. I am really trying to minimize the financial impact here- the spousal unit was stretched just to do the top end...
