Putting in an MSD into my 3.0
I've bought an old 3.0 78 euro SC motor which is being rebuilt.
It's being rebuilt to stock except for arp rod bolts and 3.2 oil pump. This is replacing my 2.7 motor, I have to replace the CDI box with a new one. So I have decided to go with an MSD ignition. What mods do I need to make to fit the MSD? Recurve the Dizzy? Use an MSD Coil? Matt

Matt,
I'm in the process of doing the same thing. Do a search. The best way is to use an alternator with internal regulator, that way you can free up the panel for the MSD. Use the 6 pin plug by putting spade connectors on the MSD wires and just plug them in. This way you can always use a bosch unit if you find one later. A search for MSD will come up with pictures also.

As much as I like the internal regulator alternators I think it's a wise idea to wire in a plug for an external regulator. That way if for some reason the regulator brakes, you can plug in the regulator and get it home without worry.
Other than that its pretty straightforward to wire in an MSD. The wiring diagrams on this site help a ton and I believe Wayne's book, 101 projects has a couple pages on how to install the MSD cdi.
