Loctitde 574 on No.1 bearing

Hello Folks
to improve the oil pressure I thought to put some 574 on the No.1 bearing. This avoids that oil pressure will be reduced due to slight leakage between case & main bearing.

What does the expert say.

You are putting an anerobic sealant into the oil system on your engine. Not a very good idea.

But there is a weak point of the system. We are doing everything
to improve oil pressure.

But what about here ?

I thought Loctite 574 does not plug up oil channels. Am I mixing things here. Is there an sealer which in uncritical for the oil channels.

Regards bob

If it is meant as a fix for low oil pressure: fix the real cause.
Otherwise leave as is, wel built engine with proper tolerances has good pressure anyway.

Only suggestion I have to increase pressure to main barings: install oil line restrictors in feeds towards to top-end. if you don't have threm on your engine (later on it became a factory mod.)

that crap sets up sooner than you think when deprived of O2. there would be a thick crust between case and bearing that would not squeeze out because it hardened before you got everything torqued up. so don't try it.

Bob,

I applaud your efforts to do every little thing you can to improve your engine, however in this case the risks far outweigh the rewards. Your efforts will be most effective in attention to details like keeping all the parts very clean, measuring everything several times, and going over the plans/procedures in your mind several times before doing the action.

I don't think that oil pressure is a weak point in these engines. Even with the early pump and before the bypass mod the bottom end on these engines lasted for over 100,000 miles. The only time I've ever seen serious wear on the bearings is in cases of oil starvation.
