Best Hack of the week thread...

This should be good for a laugh... Reading the hack mechanic
thread (Hack thread ) got me wanting to hear the on going stories as they happen... I'll start:

A little dab will do ya'

I was cleaning all the through bolts in prep for case assy this evening. So, instead of using through bolt o-rings we have here a little dab of RTV Red hardening silycon. This goes along with all the other RTV I have found on this poor beast: Holy RTV Batman

Lets see your worst hack nightmare :p

Best regards,

Michael

Wish I had a good picture, but when I pulled my cam sprockets during my tear down, half the hardware was missing, the chainbox had a cut in it from the lack of alignment, and the chain ramp was floating free in the bottom of the chain box.

I can't find the pic at the moment, but a few years ago when I was tearing down a very worn 2.7 core, I found a piece of wood wedged between the back of the chain housing case and cylinder #1......it was the only thing keeping the wobbly tensioner post from sliding out!

89turbocabmike”,

This is a “field fix” that Pelican Jim Richards had here in Colorado a few weeks ago. The point is he is going to address the permanent fix this winter. In the interim his ’73 911E 2.7RS works great and isn’t at risk.

Best,
Grady
