Need some rods

Hello all.

We are "building" an engine for a customer who has stage 4 cancer. We are actually doing this pro bono.

His hope is to have some time with the car while he still can and will leave it to his kids.

He was sold a pile of junk parts, having been told is was ready to assemble and run. There were no teeth left of the Countershaft gear nor any on the timing chain gears. The rods were all different weight groups. Heads were junk as was the engine case.

We have managed to get everything back to near perfect condition with the exception of the rods.

A very kind person in Cali sent us a set to rebuild, free of charge. I cannot thank him enough. Unfortunately 1 rod was bent.

I need 2.4L - 2.7L rods, 127.75mm CCL, 56.00mm BE bore, 22.00mm pin size.

What I need to get a full set are, either. Will buy and pay the shipping. Kitchen scale weight is close enough. We have some here we can use but not enough to make up 1 usable set.

1 x 680 grms 24 oz
3 x 700 grms 25 oz
2 x 670 grms. 23.5 oz.

If anyone can help, please email me with what you have.

neil@performancedevelopments.com.

Thank you

Neil,
Have you found what you need? If not, I can ask a couple local engine builders here if they have what you are looking for.

Thank you very much.

Some are not so fortunate to live without issues. Our "customer" is one of them. When he contacted me about rebuilding his engine he was another customer we could not help due to his budget. We are not for everyone and there are places that do this work for less.

When he told me what he was trying to do and why, it hit a nerve. I have been so fortunate to experience things in my life many will never.

Growing up in New Zealand, getting involved in motorsport and working in F1 for years, travelling the world and as a member of a team, winning races and two world championships seems all too trivial when Cancer is included in the commentary. A very humbling thought. Nothing is as important as life.

Giving back is so important when others are less fortunate. As my wife told me, what you have achieved in your past life is important when you can give back. It makes it all worthwhile.

The customer, Michael is his name, is going to come here with his kids and assemble his engine with us. It will be a time his kids can remember. Its going to be an honor to do this for him. I just hope he has a lot of time left to enjoy the car.

Again, thanks to all that have helped.
