Thanks to all you guys on this board I was able to perform my first valve adjustment on my car without a hitch. When reinstalling the valve covers do the gaskets require some type of sealant? Or do they just go on dry. Thanks in advance!!

DRY, and do NOT over tighten.

Fresh dry gaskets are the best. 6-8 ft-lbs on the nuts only.

Use whatever gaskets you have for now but for next time I would get the green exhaust valve gaskets with the bead of silicon around the perimeter. They seal more reliably than the graphite ones IMO.
