New rebuild: smokes after its been standing for a while

Hey chaps,

My 3.2 has just been rebuilt and is running in. I have only done around 200 miles.
I have noticed that the car smokes on start up if the car has been standing for a good few days or if its been raining and the car is outside.

The smoke looks whitish and so I thought it was condensation from standing or from the weather.

If used regularly I have no smoke at all.

I have had a total engine rebuild including new valves, seats, guides etc in the top end.

Is this normal or is something up?

Many 911's smoke at start-up. Especially after sitting for a few days. Break in your engine and drive it for awhile to see what the oil consumption is. You may burn a bit of oil if you have new rings until the rings seat. I've had 911 engines that went 2-3k miles per quart of oil after a top end rebuild. More typical for my cars has been a quart per 1-1.5k miles.
