Crank Seal Fix ?

Gents,

Did I imagine reading a post or an advert for a fix to the crank seal leak (apart from replacing the retainer)?

I recall seeing something that allowed for an additional retainer to be installed.

Perhaps I dreamt it.......... Have searched and can't find it. A local enthusiast (993) has a problem with an otherwise good engine.

Please point me in the right direction.

If you are talking about the number 8 nose bearing leaks then yes there was something about that here. It involved putting a ring of metal over the leak and securing it with a set screw. I think the solution was from Tom Amon (sp?) the mobile Porsche fixer in California.

That's what I'm thinking of.
Here's the link to that post: Tom Amon showed up at my house with new gadget!!

I wonder how it worked out. Any opinions?

Cheers, Juan
