Distributor interchange

I've located a 87 3.2 without induction or distributor. I plan on using this motor in 914-6 conversion. It's a 90% street /10% drivers ed car. The plan was to rebuild with 9.5 J&E pistons, S cams, and carbs with single plug. Is there a distributor with advance that swaps in. Maybe a drive gear swap? Any info would be appreciated.

The most ideal solution would be the ultra-rare '76 Turbo distributor, recurved for carbs and your cams.

Those really work well and no internal changes are required.

I can convert a 3.2 dizzy to have the solid state suff from the 3.0 SC or the 3.3 You would need the two cores(3.2 and an SC). It could made with or without vac and any curve to compliment you intended use.

I'm not sure I understand. Is the 3.2 stock dizzy physically different than a 76turbo/sc dizzy. I know it's just for distribution because the motronic handles timing. I guess I'm asking if all the dizzy's bolt into all cases?

You wou be looking for a clockwise dizzy that was solid state....a rare bird. As Steve has said, it only came on the early turbo. The SC is counter-clockwise and would not work unless you changed the distributor drive gear on the crank. That would require complete dissasembly of your motor. So there are only two solutions if you want to retain a dizzy. Another solution would be a distributorless sytem with coil packs etc...

Aaron,
The motor is apart, so I have all my options open at this point.
Thanks,
Dave

Good! Then what I would do is get an SC distributor drive gear for the crank and a good SC distributor. You have the option of getting a recurve because of the carbs or just leaving it stock .

FWIW,.....the SC distributor has a really limited advance range and its NOT easy to get what you want. It simply takes more time on the machine to rework that, properly.

That said, I wouldn't leave the SC dizzy stock since the curve is very lazy,.....:)
