And you thought a new set of Mahles for your car was expensive..

As I still wrestle with whether I go with new p's/c's, I try to keep an eye on Ebay. I stumble on this auction.

I'd probably be looking at $4X00 for a set of 3.4 Mahles, but that ain't nothing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-917-92mm-Mahle-pistons-and-cylinders_W0QQitemZ160150905941QQihZ006QQcategoryZ 33623QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

His comment about this probably being the only set of NOS in the world seems reasonable to me.

I'm just glad my 917 doesn't need P's and C's!

You're a lucky man

PS- I don't know the guy, and I'd not seen these before. I just thought it kinda different to see a set of pistons and cyls for $25K...

Would'nt it be funny if the only differance in the 917 P&L's was the part number on the box...........I'm sure there is a differance. What is it?

I was under the impression that the 917 12 cly. was basically 2 2.0L placed together I'm sure there is more to it then that but they do ressemble "S" piston's don't they........

Umm... Well I WOULD but those pesky emissions laws mean you'll probably never see it.

I don't have the figures in my mind but your basic 2.0 is not 92 mm bore.

Great information John, Thanks. But what is the differance in the pistons & cylinders between the 6 cylinder 90mm and others? Wrist pin size? Piston dome? Cylinder height? Just want to know.
