Is This Normal?
 

I am in the process of rebuilding my 930/07 aluminum engine and I notice what look like small cracks in the block. However, they seem to only be surface deep.
Is this a normal part of the casting process, or do I have a problem.

Yes it is normal, they all have it.

That is not a problem I am aware of, and there may be someone with specifics on the metalurgy.

It looks fine, my brand new, unused case shows exactly the same markings....
