New engine first run...

Followed all the prerequisite rules. Started the 2.2 race engine for the first time, and was surprised that I had literally no smoke. Every other rebuild that I have been involved in...smoked like hell during the 20 minute run-in.

I had good oil pressure, and no leaks(that I see yet).

I thought the rings were going to smell as they settled in and the engine would blow smoke for a while??

You only get lots of smoke if you have used lots of oil on the rings when you put the engine together. Modern procedure is to use a very light coat of oil on the rings so they seat quickly. I used WD-40 as per the recommendation with my new rings, plus some motor oil on the piston skirts.

I'm in the process of breaking in my 3.2ss and I also had no noticable smoke. I used motor oil on the rings and then wiped away the excees after installing the p&c.
