Rebuild 1968 sporto engine
Hi,
I am looking to rebuild a 1968 sportomatic engine and would like any recomendations on heads and cylinders. I have read some negative feedback on QSC products so I want to know anything on rebuilding this car. Pistons and cylinders have to be replaced. Paulo |

Well, you can find Biral cylinders used and have them honed. 2,0 liter heads are fairly inexpensive, but the valves are very expensive. Consider a company called SI valves for stainless replacements for the original ATE, which are still available, but cost prohibitive for all but the most dedicated restorers.

Are there any brands of cylinders or pistons I should avoid? What about the nikaseal ones? Sorry I am totally new to rebuilding porsche. I am not actually doing the rebuild but I want to purchase good parts but not put a ton of money in this engine. I have had people tell me that there should not be too much money dumped into this engine. Any info is greatly appriciated!

Use the search feature, in particular for the terms "QSC" "Mahle" "Biral" "Nikasil"
