Is replacing just the rings DUMB?
I have my 2.0 S motor in my track car.
I have nearly 40 track days and 40 a/x's on it and feels like it is down on power. I want to do a compression check and leakdown test. What kind of numbers should I expect to see? If it seems low, would a re-ring be worth the time? I'm leaning toward a 3.0 instead. KT

Well, compression varies with altitude. I would say 150+, but I don't put much stock in compression tests.
Leakdown is better, you should see 5% or less. If you see 10% or more it's time for further investigation. If they are original "S" pistons you should check to see that the ring grooves are in spec on every piston. Otherwise, if you re-ring and the grooves are too wide, all the rings will break.
