Cylinder Sealing Surface Measurement
Ok guys Heres a Brief Overview for your understanding
.. Ive gotten my measurements for my 2.4t Heads and Cylinders. Its my understanding that the heads overall distance should be 3.326 and all 6 of mine Check in Right around that number at 3.325. Now the Sealing Surface on the T Heads came in at an average of .097 which is also within tolerance of .080 - .100 :D ONTO the CYLINDERS. >>>> They all Measured correctly on the Overall distance ranging from 3.363 in to 3.368 in ??? HOWEVER, ???? The step to the Sealing Surface on the Cylinders seemed a little Low ranging from .110 to .114 When I believe they should be within .124 - .140 What Should I do? ? ? What do you mean by overall distance? From where to where measured with what?
|
You measuring from the cam tower sealing surface (on the head) to the cylinder surface? Thats the one that has to be the same all the way around.. Thats a quick way to tell if they have been cut too..

I surface grind cylinders all the time to get the head to deck length within .0002", so that is one option for getting the heights right on the cylinders. As far as the groove depth, if you have a spec you could always have the groove remachined. It seems as though you have lots of variation - were these all off one engine?

Yes, measuring from the Cam tower sealing surface to the mating surface on the Cyl.... here they measure all the same and correct.

These to my knowledge all came from the same engine. .. I cant understand why the Cylinders overall measurment is correct but the Step distances are different.. ??
