Best Over-Haul/Rebuilder in SoCal

I won't mention any names but many on here post that a certain Porsche Engine rebuilder uses old parts and basically does a less than lackluster job.

Well now you all have me scared. Can someone give me the names of someone that can do a good job and is honest. I have a problem accepting that anyone can stay in business for years and keep on ripping people off.

I have a 1978 911 SC Euro Model that runs fine but I would like to get it worked on and living in Nevada is like trying to get your Porsche worked on while being on the moon. Any suggestions

Henry at Supertec gets my vote as the best..period. He is in So Cal...but most of his work comes from elsewhere...like from me in Albuquerque. He did a great job on mine. Do a search for Supertec.

Mister Motor? :)

Henry rocks; top notch guy. There are other great SoCal builders, but he's the only one I've used. Honesty is his trademark.

I have to say Aase Motors in Fullerton, Ca. Jeff and Allan do excellent work. They build pretty much all the competitive race motors in VARA (Currently 8+ motors racing last count). Most of all, they are bulletproof and more importantly, run up front. I personally have 80+ hours on my 2.5L race motor and it has never given me a DNF in 3+ years. That goes with the other motors they have built.
Best of all they are reasonably priced. They will not jerk you around like some other shops.

They are the only shop that we use. They have a very strong following from POC and VARA and that speaks overall integrity.

I recommend stopping by and chatting with them.

My vote would go to Wayne Baker's shop in San Diego 858-586-7772. They have extensive experience on every air-cooled Porsche engine ever built. Wayne also runs a racing program so they know how to build race motors that last. They are honest and fairly priced. They do the job right the first time. Ask around about Wayne.

I'd go old-school: Walt @ Competition Engineering. He's been in the business forever did Porsche factory work and hands down the does the best machine work from what I know. He's just not as flashy as others but when you see him working it is art.

keyword "Overhaul" meaning using an existing motor...... Ridiculous- because one of our race motors from scratch (buying a new case, machine work, new pistons, race valve springs, NEW PMO carbs, New cams- no where near $23 thousand.... and these are race parts, not street parts.

+2 for Aase Motors.....Alan rebuilt my motor 6 years ago, Street driving, AX and Time Trials all 6 years, motor still pulls like a banshee.. :)
