Back at it-installed LH head and cam tower today

After a 3 week hiatus (darned work travel, Rennsport III, crewing at a race, etc) I got out to the garage and got the LH side heads and tower on. No issues, took my time making sure all was clean and got 'er done. I ended up using Curil T on the base gaskets. Not only did it take the pressure of working in the cure time of Loctite 574 out of the mix, the stuff smells quite pleasant. Sort of a "minty-fresh" smell, so I ended up picking some mint out of the backyard and mixing up a Mojito with a Montecristo #4 (the GOOD kind ;) ) to celebrate.

I'm going after the RH side tomorrow. Oh, she had to play "dress up" a bit too....(I definitely need to do the PORSCHE lettering on the intake valve covers in red)

Thanks Jeff. That's a "titanium" ceramic coating that is supposed to be very good on Magnesium. I found a great automotive-focused powder coater in the area, he recommended it for the Mag parts, and I wanted to covers to match. I'm going to attempt to paint the lettering red. Hopefully, a steady hand will prevail.

Cool,

I really like the subtle look of it. My powder coater would not touch mag, did not want the headache if it did not turn out 100%.....

On the valve covers I went with black and then the polished ribs on the lowers and polished script on the uppers. I like yours better.....

Cheers

I figured the valve covers needed a little zip...

Looks like the steady hand prevailed!!! Looks good.

You may need to machine (dremel) away the past part of the horinotal rib at the middle spark plug hole to get the boot/seal to fit. (once you go twin plug that is)

Cheers

Ed, looks great. Can you give me the name of the company you used? I may look into that since I'm dropping the engine on my 88 for valve guides.
