More distributor questions spring size? see pics.

Hi all

Well I finally freed up my dizzy cam which was stuck in full advance no small effort there.

I am wondering if the larger spring is supposed to not engage until the very end of the advance. For nearly the first 7/8 of the advance the larger spring doesn't engage. Based on the slot design of the spring i'm assuming that this is the case. It was stuck in full advance though so may be stretched. other spring seems fine though.

Also it looks like someone got into here before me and broke the small tabs off of one side of the spring retainers. should I worry about this?

Lastly, anyone know a source for the springs to recurve this? It's an 001 off a 74cis motor which is going to need to be recurved for a 2.7rs type motor.

My dizzy springs had the same set up as yours when I went through it. Car is an SC. Good luck on finding replacement plastic pieces in there. Also,...I hear Steve Weiner is very good at recurves. I would send out for a recurve unless you have distributor machine in your garage.

good luck
