new rebuild with leaking cylinder
 

I need to vent
I just had my 964t motor rebuilt less the 500miles and when my buddy went to check my valves he found two nuts in the covers.. Motor has ARP Hardware and the guy that did my rebuild no longer talk so no going back to him. My guy thinks he may get lucky and just retorque the head bolts. Is this what you guys would do
I spent 2 years having this thing built and don't know what to do. I was having the valves checked before taking the car for a upgraded EFI ECU and wanted a good bill
of health. Also my buddy heard the leak when the engine was just turning over before he even pulled the covers. And my wife just says" you are spending more money again"

Where did your friend hear the leak coming from?
Intake, Exhaust or case?
What makes you think the leak is at the heads?

Edit: Had the nuts loosened from the rockers?

I personally would remove all spark plugs and do a compression test. That should isolate the cylinders in issue. Then a leak down test could be performed to determine the source of leak(s).

Hi:

I've experienced the very same things and thats why I do not use nor recommend ARP head studs any longer. These things simply expand & contract at different rates from the cylinders and engine case.

I would simply reinstall the head nuts and check torque on ALL of them. Be sure to followup on this at each oil change.

Thanks guys The number one cylinder at the head he can hear and seen the nice grey residue around the head.. I went with arp do to everybody on the sites saying it was the way to go..
Thank steve if it seals after retorquing then I will check after oil changes.

Steve is it ok to do with the headers and intake still on the motor??
