Porting VRam manifold?
I've got a modified 993 3.6 VRam motor in my '69. I came across a claim the other day that has me wondering if I should port my varioram manifold.
The claim: they say the middle of the runner on the VRam casting is a choke-point, in that it tapers to a narrow area in the middle before widening again where the runner meets the head. This choke point hurts power- by removing it and creating a constant taper towards the head they picked up power. In fact, by doing that as well as a replacement injector stub, the claim is you can pick up 15 hp on some highly modified motors. Thoughts? This was the first I'd heard of it, but others must have tried. Anyone else have any experience (good or bad) porting out these manifolds and picking up power? I'd be happy with 5-10 hp, let alone 15... |
