Oil Ring Question w/ JE Pistons
The last set of JE pistons I had in the motor used a "1 piece" oil ring with a coiled spring through the center of it. I did not build this engine so I don't know where the rings came from. My new JE pistons and rings arrived and the oil ring is a more conventional design that I have seen in other engine builds I have done. It contains an upper and lower ring that sandwich a "corrugated" ring that acts as the spring.
I am assuming that there are no issues with this, but due to the horizontal cylinder layout and the possibility of oil seeping through when sitting, is this current design considered just as effective? I'd hate to find out later that I should have sourced other rings and now live with a puff of smoke every time I start the car. Any thoughts on this??? Thanks! |

Look up DonE... both he and I have the same rings.... His motor is running...mine still has a few months left before it goes on the road... he has had no problems with the rings whatso ever... but he is using them in an iron lined cyl...( JB Racing cyl)
