Dual pipe exhaust for 2.4S?
Hi all,
in the Porsche 911 Performance Handbook (Bruce Anderson) it is mentioned that the power of a 2.4S can be lifted to 210 BHP when using a dual pipe sports exhaust. - which exhaust is this? I have bought an exhaust with outlets both left and right, but I am wondering if the book actually refers to the exhaust with the two parallel pipes exiting in the middle of the exhaust (is this the 'pea shooter'?) - Has anybody tried this? Thanks! Dennis |
I don't think that number you quote is in the book. His book does show that you can gain about 10 HP with a sport muffler. The dual outlet sport muffler is usually considered to be the "pea shooter" that you reference above. I believe that most dual outlet mufflers will give you this boost.

Is it true this type of exhaust works better with carbs than MFI?

Andy, check the graph on page 141. Pretty close to 210

Dennis,
I have the older version of the book so my graph is on page 133. It shows a 10 HP increase at 5500 RPM. The stock curve stops there in the graph at 190 HP. Since the peak HP of the 2.4s motor is around 6200 RPM, this graph shows a stock 2.4 with about 200 HP. The improvement with the muffler is 10HP. -Andy |
