930. Spring Loaded Tensioner Question

I am rebuilding my 80 sc engine and got around to installing the tensioners. I put on the safety collars and I think my tensioners are compressed too much. There is about a 16th of an inch between the top of the tensioner and bottom of safety collar. The instructions say there should be 1/8th inch. My tensioners were hard to compress and my chains are tight. Does anyone think my tensioners may be no good?

with new chains, sometimes there is barely any room for a tensioner guard. you may have to install them later. a tensioner that takes effort to compress is a good thing.

thanks for the input, I was hoping that it was from the new chains.
