3.2 with 40mm carbs doable ??

Hi guys,

I plan to make my new engine (3.2 Euro) to run on carbs.
I can get a pair of very good used Weber 40 IDA.
Will these run correctly ? Is there any loss in HP compared with the stock 3.2 EFI ???
Also the distributor can be re-used or I need a new one ? (SC maybe ?)

Happy new year ! SmileWavySmileWavySmileWavy

The 40 mm carbs will produce horse power as high as 260.
The distributor will need to be replaced by a distributor with internal triggering and an appropriate advance curve. Supertec builds these distributors regularly.
The SC dist. will not work because it turns the wrong direction. Counter clock wise vs clock wise.
The other option is the modify a 2.4/2.7 distributor but this is a far inferior option. By our way of thinking, totally inappropriate.

Henry,

I want to know some more details for the distributor.
(Please PM)
Also could you suggest some jet numbers for a completely stock 3.2 ?

Thanks!
Jim
