Transmission Brake Band ?

Hi All,

Re-arranging some gears in a 901 transmission.

The early gears, –70, have longer Brake Bands than the new gears, 70-.

Is there an operational difference between them??

Ken

Good question Ken. I do not have the answer, but in the 915 the opposite seems to have happened. The early gears ( 1st & 2nd ) had short brake bands, and then they went to longer ( one piece ) brake bands in the later years. Didn't mean to hi-jack your thread, just interested in the answer. I enjoy working on 901 & 915 transmissions.
