Beautiful engine Mark. How much does it weight? Looks like you went all out on saving weight on the engine, not to mention the car also.

126coupe 01-24-2008 12:52 PM

Thank-You, the car and power train weigh 1935 w/o driver

Plavan 01-25-2008 08:33 AM

Heavyweight :)
Looks good Mark. Probably after next season I will be going back to glass. Lexan windshields just suck.
Stick it to those damn Z's in CP.

I was having trouble w a couple of Z's w my 2.5L (Horn and Wilkens)
I am hoping this 2.0L is as good as it supposed to be. The 2.0L will benefit greatly fronm the twin plug., probably 40-50 HP less than my 2.5L
This engine should spin up quicker I just have to drive better.

Plavan 01-25-2008 09:59 AM

Well Horn's is an illegal (I'm using their words now :) )2.8L I believe. You do not have to worry about him in your class. Wilkins has been breaking during the weekend, or does not race every race. So I have faith in you.

Thats right Horn has a 2.8L, I guess myself, your cousin JP, and Wilkins will cattle it out

Sweet Motor

Cattle it out???? What are you guys going to go grazing down the front straight? LOL...

I know you meant battle it out..;)

Looks really nice Mark. You and JP are going to have some fun this year while Chad and I, Leon, Justin and Modissette battle it out.

What do you think of my new avatar?

I am a horrible typist, yes "battle" is the correct word, the avatar anyone I know?
Alot of Mods on this 2.0L, I always sweat out the first "fire up"
Got my NOS GA mainshaft, now I can put the transaxle together (w some help)
funny I can build engines fine, but transaxles I still need help.
Should be done by Sunday eve.

Vintage911Racer 01-25-2008 03:20 PM

What are you going to use for gears in this one?

A, GA, K, Q, V

126coupe 01-25-2008 03:31 PM

Long Box for our first one at CA Speed is A,GA,M,S,W
Short "back up" box is A,GA,M,S,V
with the 2.0L I hope to be @ 7800 at the CA Speeway in March (front straight, T-1,T-2) with, hopefully not too much lifting.

126coupe 01-25-2008 03:35 PM

Thinking of gearing, these combos work at all the track we go to.
My only "bad" gear is 3rd, t-11(coming on the fr straight)@ Buttonwillow.
I will not change one gear, for one corner, on one track. It is an important corner at that track

Vintage911Racer 01-25-2008 03:48 PM

Gearing

Mark,

If you went with

Short Box, A, GA, K, Q, V you wuld be set for all tracks except Fontana.
You could even use it for fontana. like I did. You just hit 8K down the front straight and have to feather it a bit. I did a 1:55 with those gears there and Eddie and Leon were doing 1:54 with the 2.5L motors.

Long Box

I think using what I have now might work for you... A, GA, L, R, W (could even be a box for all tracks) I use it at every track.

Remember, Gearing helps a ton. That is why I am able to pull cars that are 100lbs lighter then me... that step from 2nd to 3rd on yuor gearbox is a long one for a 2.0L. Most people are going A, GA, J or A, GA, KA...

You might want to consider that..

I just sold my "Q" gear... but I do have the KA 3rd and the V 5th if you are interested. I should have sold you all 3 gears form my 2.0L box. you would have been set.

Chad is running A, GA, M, S, X.. with his 2.4 with .060 overbore... I think you might be too tall with A, GA, M, S, W in a 2.0L

That is alot of very good info, but I will run these boxes and learn how to drive better. 9 years of driving a SWB, I think I still have something to learn. I looked at my notebook and I only have 20 hours in a true 2.0L. This 2.0L is a different animal, but I need to get used to less Horsepower.

Vintage911Racer 01-25-2008 04:13 PM

I hear you... If you change your mind let me know. I do have a good 3rd and 5th gear you could buy off nme for cheap. They are in great shape.... You would love it. All you would have to do is buy a 4th gear ($350) and you are set. Now is the time while the box is apart.

It would make a ton of difference.

Vintage911Racer 01-25-2008 04:14 PM

you going to watch the Daytons 24 race in the morning? I cant believe FOX is airing the first hour and I do not even see it on the TV GUIDE... Only speed shows it and speed coverage does not start until 10:30 PST. So I think the start is not going to be televised.
