Tilt wooble with new cylinders and 7R case

Dear All,

I was installing today a brand new mahle 2.7 piston & cylinder set.

When I installed a set with a 0.25mm copper gasket and slided on the cylinder no. 3 to the case I realized a little tilt , wobble.

I took is out to double check. The cylinder foot surface seems to be straight.
Then I took another new set of cylinder and installed it on cylinder no 3 and the tilt was almost away. Is my surface bad? How to check?

Do I have a burr on the cylinder. What can be the reason for this?
The affected cylinder fits ok on cylinder 4.

Who made some similar experience?

Thank you for your help. I will check Waynes book tonight to see if he made some comment on my issue.

Regards Bob

Was the case surfaced? Do all the deck heights measure the same?

Another possibility - in manufacturing, there usually is a radius between the cylinder skirt and cylinder base, and if insufficient clearance is provided between the skirt and shim, it can catch on the radius and cause this problem you are experiencing.

Double check that the shims do not have any burrs as well.

If indeed there is a conflict with a radius on the cylinder, either you can turn that radius off OR put a radius on the spigot opening in the case.
