2.7 Rebuild: Can the valve springs be reused
I am having my 2.7 rebuilt. The re-builder today sent me an estimate that Included new valve springs. I went over the rebuild list and He is charging 267 for a set of new springs which sounds like a fair price. He also said that the old springs could possibly be reused if they are within tolerance. So far on the heads he is installing new exhaust guides and valves and reusing the intakes. I am leaving the cams stock along with the pistons and cylinders. So what would you guys do? The motor had 124K on it when I pulled it with decent compression but loose exhaust valves.

In spec, use them.. Must be the intake valves are ok because he is reusing them?

Yes he is reusing the intake valves and installing new guides in both intake and exhaust

There is no need to replace them if they are in spec. I would feel more comfortable using the old springs that have a history of service than new. There can be flaws in new parts that cause early failures. Rod bolts are a good example (they have to be replaced, but some have flaws and fail).

I would be more apt to use new valves and not worry about springs. Facing a valve is more work then a new one. What is more I would absolutely replace the EX valves

how about the valve stems? did he mic them along their length to see if they're tapered? springs, if they're a tad weak when checked on a valve spring gauge, you can add a shim or two to bring them up to spec.

I stopped by the re-builder and checked the parts out. Without any question the exhaust valves were already scheduled for the trash. They had done the first grind/face on the intakes to make sure that they could take a grind. Both the intake and exhaust guides will be replaced. So far we are reusing the springs. This will not be a high RPM motor. Basically a stock rebuild.
