pmo vs webers

not sure if this question has been beaten into the ground
but i would be interested to hear opinions or comments from people who have run both.

PMOs are better, especially the 46s. Numerous improvements are cast into the design that Weber machinists have tried to add in over the years. Consider the PMO an "evolved" Weber.

Tell that to the fellow who I was helping get his car running right. At Roebling about a month ago a fellow was *****ing left and right about how his car was running.. we fiddled with the carbs all day and couldnt get the car running correctly

And then there is another fellow I know who took off his PMOs and replaced them with his old Webers....

That solid engine mount disclaimer is a bunch of BS, nice out for PMO

didnt realize ******ing was a dirty word :S

If you have a choice, PMO's are better.

pete-stevers 02-10-2008 07:54 PM

perhaps i should ask not only which one is better but why...
what advantage do webers have that pmo doesn't and vice versa
specifically 40s..

Sounds like a configuration issue, not a carb issue.

PMOs are basically Weber copies. Their advantage comes in the fact that they have all of the Weber float bowl mods cast right into the parts, plus improved progression circuits among other changes I can't recall.

FWIW, Solexes are actually the best. Better than Webers, better than PMOs. No BS. A Bieker or Duel rebuid later and they are magic. Remote float bowls, non-offset carb bores...what's not to love?

I switched from 46mm Webers to 50 PMO's for the race car and 46 PMO's for the stock 3.2. I noticed the mid range transition was better. The power output seemed the same.
The main reason I switched was Weber 46mm parts are harder and harder to come by. Also finding someone competent in repairing them, and the long lead time for the repairs.

PMO's I have run both. The webers tend to be temperamental.
I run 46MM on both the 2.5L and the 2.0L The 2.5 has 38MM venturis the 2.0L 36MM venturis. Both sets bolted on and hardly any adjusting. In fact I just put a new set on the 2.0L and did not even have to balance or sync up. Great Product!
