Max RPM

I'm currently building a 2.7 with JE pistons, CIS, and 964 profile cams. What maximum rpm should I plan for on this motor? Maximum meaning occasional, not constant.

The first limitation is the valve springs. With stock valve springs and retainers you should not exceed the stock 964 rev limit. I don't know what that is, but probably around 6500. The bottom end is good for 7000 with occational trips to 7500. With stiffer valve springs and/or titanium retainers the valve train will be good for 7500 or so.

Sigurd,

964 cams have peaked by 6500 RPM so running the engine beyond that simply constitutes abuse,....:)

Re-gear the car to always keep the RPM between 4500 & 6300 at each shift and you'll be just fine.
