p/c cohices for 3.8l
which one is better ln engineering, perfectbore with je or wösner or oem mahle p/c for durabilty? why is mahle is so expencive than the others
|
I have heard many good things about LN.
If you are going to run a non boosted setup I would run the Mahle pistons, they are the best for street driving. Just make sure whoever building the motor double checks the compression ratio, Ive seen these setups accidently hit the street with 13:1 CR... |
Mahle's cost is influenced by availability and the fluctuating (low) US dollar. At one point our cylinders were the most expensive...
|
I wonder how 11.3:1 CR can hit the 13.1CR,do you mean be careful when you gonna place an order or something else that the builder must care of
|
A higher piston dome added the compression + builder's stupidity blew it up.
|
tell me if I am wrong but the mahle declared the cr of the kit at least static cr .when you gonna order the set you have to chose the right cr for your engine isnt it?

The whole debate on JE pistons aside, JE has revised their forgings and now use a CP style forging which is much improved, albeit I never had a single customer have a JE fail in a Nickies cylinder previously either, and the majority of those sold are all in street engines, not race. Little changes like deleting forced wrist pin oilers also can go a long way to mitigating any potential problems with wrist pin bosses too and is something we normally do regardless.

celal, I bet there was "13:1" posted somewhere on the box, I dont know what the hell the guy's problem was- all I can remember was driving the car and hearing it knocking like the DEA at Tony Montana's door.
I think the guy just didnt know rat $hit from rice crispys... |
