Engine Oil Coolers, They same all yrs?
I'm curious if there are any internal differences with the engine mounted oil coolers from 1965 to 1973 or beyond, are they identical? they look identical, can they be swapped with no consequence?
Thanks, Nabil |
They are not all the same. Up to 71 are the same. Then 72 is very different. 73 and up are nearly the same. The difference relates to the lower connection hose to the oil tank. Early cars have a threaded fitting and later cars have an S hose that uses hose clamps.

There are (2) versions I am aware of: 1. 1965-71 P/N - 901-107-041-50 (threaded fitting for oil line) 2. 1972-89 P/N - 911-017-041-00 (slip-on fitting for oil line) I believe the only difference is in the fitting. |
so would it be the year of the oil tank or the engine case that determines which one you would have to use? I understand that they are all the same capacity then?
Thanks in advance! Nabil |
The fitting on the tank and the fitting on the cooler are matched. If you want to use an early cooler on at later chassis (or vice versa), you need to make up a hybrid hose with a threaded fitting on one end and a slip-on on the other.

Now I understand! hard to grasp the concept from my day job work station! Much appreciated Tom, I'll give you a ring later tonight.
Thanks, Nabil |
