Whoops! Posted to quickly without checking my words, sorry.

I think I meant intake port flange and a minus .25 (inch) or minus .01 (mm) in view of the numbers you posted here earlier. Thanks.

I just did clearance check on my 2.7 engine today. Assembled #1 and #3 cylinders, piston in #1. Torqued the two heads, put the tower on,put the cam in, timed the cam, and checked the clearance through many rotations. Then, turned in the adjuster on the intake one full turn (which is 1 mm), rotated the engine. No interference. Repeated up through 3mm, no intereference. Did the same for the exhaust. I figure 3mm clearance is plenty good. Then, took it all apart. Yeah, it takes a long time to do, but not as long as rebuilding an engne that got the valves smashed into the pistons.

Just curious what your machinist left as a signature. Did they stamp a -0.1mm on the exhaust port flange area? Or some other area of the head to alert the next rebuilder? Wondering if American shops use the metric or standard measurements for indicators.

Tibetan,

You can see the stamp on my heads picture in the other thread, it is in inches 0.01.

Best,

Here is a better shot, the stamp is in the bottom right corner:
