Cam Regrind / Rocker Recondition

I'm getting close to finishing up up my '90 3.6 reseal/recondition job. Cleaning and examining the cams today revealed more wear / pitting than I noticed previously on disassembly. Who should I send the cams to to be reground and the rockers to be resurfaced?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/pray.gif

I've heard lots of good things about these guys though I've never used them. http://www.webcaminc.net/

Send the rockers and cams to John (camgrinder on this forum). He does great work and contributes to this forum.

I would not recommend Camgrinder... especially if you have a drop dead date for when you need your cams... I ordered cams for my personal ride in late December...Last week they finally showed up...

We have an order in for cams for a customers rebuild... and now the answering machine is turned off.......they have not been able to to provide the cams we ordered, nor are they available on the phone to give an explanation......

Whelp,

I sent my cams and rockers to John Dougherty as most recommended. He called me upon recieving them and was regrinding them to the stock 964 profile as we spoke. He exchanged my rockers for a set already done to minimize down time. He took interest in my project and turned the parts around ASAP. So far so good. Thanks for all of your input.

So you have your new cams?

I received UPS shipment info from Dougherty Racing Cams that they are to be delivered on April 18th. I'll let you know when I get them.

I have personally spoken to several people that had John Dougherty do their cams. I will be sending mine to him within the next few weeks. No questions for me....it's www.drcamshafts.com

.....just my 2 cents worth

John Dougherty (www.drcamshafts.com) reground my cams and reconditioned my rockers. I was very pleased with the workmanship and time.

:)Tim T,

I did receive my cams and rockers back from John Dougherty April 18th. Turnaround time was quick as he only had them 5 or 6 days. The workmanship and condition of the parts looks superb. Can't wait to put it together.

Sorry about the delay in your order Tim.

I was overwhelmed with work at the beginning of this year (at least 2x the normal amount). Between that and some non business related stuff made for a tough time.

Recently we made some changes in how we run the business and it seems to be working out really well.
Bottom line is, I am a much better camshaft grinder than a business man :D

Well, I installed and degreed my cams and rockers reground/reconditioned by John Dougherty. I finished the engine project in July and have about 1,000 miles on the car since the rebuild. The regrind was to stock specs as is the rest of my engine. It performs flawlessly and runs strong. Thanks for the excellent workmanship John!!!!
