sand cast AL case full rebuild
I'm in the teardown phase of a full rebuild of my sandcast 67S engine.
I'd like to know what modifications are recommended in light of 40 years of working knowledge about these engines. I'm going for stock appearance but don't mind mods where it makes sense. The things I've settled on so far: - bigger oil pump from 3 litre engine - 930 tensioners w/safety collars - cast iron rocker arms w/bushings I'm considering getting hotter cams from camgrinder, depends on whether my camshaft is within spec or not. Also a better distributor from 123ignition.nl All advice appreciated. andy |
The '67S charm is the cam. Mess with that and you may alter its appeal. That said, camgrinder made me a set of DC44s on 102 lobe centers. On paper, the are amazing, but won't be running until the end of summer.

I just got Wayne's book. Brilliant. Lists all the things I need to do to increase
the reliability of the engine. Looks like the 930 tensioners I bought for rebuilding were actually 901 tensioners like the ones I already have. I guess the safety collars were worth the $10 I paid. The experienced guy who is helping me rebuild my engine got me to remove the rocker arms prior to removing the camshafts, I can't work out why after reading Wayne's book. Wayne lists the rocker arm removal as one of the final steps. Any ideas? andy |

The cams will not come out of the cam towers unless you remove the rockers first. |
Hi John, none of those links work.
