Piston to deck height of a stock 1976 2.7L

Does anyone know what the piston to deck height should be for an original 2.7L? Thanks for your thoughts.

Deck height is usually around 1mm (.040"). If yours is greater than 1.5mm or less than about .8mm you need to do something to get it in that range.

Thanks, Andy. You and I are in complete agreement there as well as Bruce Anderson's books (0.77mm to 1mm). I've seen were some reputable sources have suggested that the Porsche factory used 1.25mm to 1.5mm, which is more along the lines of what many companies in the auto industry use for a minimum piston to head clearance. Mazda had a problem with their 2.5L V6 in the early 1990's because they used 0.75mm and the carbon build-up on the piston and head squish flat caused an audible "knock" from the contact.
