Less brakes, more gas!

Damn I'm slow...
So... another 4 months and all I have to show is a long block!
![]() Now it is on to the exhaust and intake. Since most of it is either new or has been cleaned in the last um... 3 years... it should come together easily. My only concern now is that something in the CIS has gone amuck since it has been under the car this whole time. But, I'll give it a thorough going over and hope for the best. My prior mis-adventures with this engine in the order they were received: And the pieces came a tumblen' down... Holy RTV Batman!! Can I reuse this Cyl?? Broken Rocker Shaft Cause? Hot soak AL case OK? Everything was going great... then I dropped a head :( Ahhh... Progress! Best regards, Michael

Looks great; but, you have a long way (time) to go to beat my slow progress. I started 4/23/2004 and got to the following stage 01/11/2008.
![]() Still do not have it in the car. Hope to have the engine bay painted this weekend and in a few weeks I might be firing it up.

My wife is going to kill me. I told her that it only takes about 100 hours to do this, and yes she will hold me to it.
Great looking engine!!

100 hours... well yeah I guess if you have everything ready to go (clean!! + all new parts needed and on hand) that would be about right. I think, the fastest you can put it together, just assy... um ... I might venture 3-4 hours. I think a lot of time is spent, at least my experience, measureing, checking, and learning with a dry fit.
Calendar time is taken up a lot with parts shipping here or there for this and that. Next time I'll know better what I need and how to do things. This will help a ton. Most of my calendar time was because this was a total budget regulated build. By that I mean, I limitted myself on what could be spent in a month so that the total cost was spread out. Also I was patient when waiting for parts to go on sale or the right eBay snatch. So that took time. Its not like the 3 kids didn't get in the way either ![]() thanks for the good words gents! Best regards, Michael

Ed,
Thats a bruiser of an engine! After this one is done I'm going to start accumulating for a 3.2SS. That one might get as pretty as yours! I estimate... sometime in the next decade I'll get done ![]() ![]() -Michael

Thanks back to you as well. My next may be a 3.8RSR spec with electronic engine management due to the recent and future fuel cost. These old school MFI motors love to drink 93 octane.

I started on my 2.7 short stroke in February of this year. From rods on the crank to timing the cams and checking piston to valve clearance. Now it's the end of April.

Nice , Mark! I'm going to have to get one of those Stomski things. My 3' machined level just did not work well measuring the sprocket depth.
Best regards, Michael
