Who supplies the 3 pipe muffler?

An acquaintance is building a 2.2S. He would like to get the (loud) muffler which I have seen on a RS in the past. It has two straight pipes and one side pipe as on a stock muffler. The two straight pipes are running under the bumper guards and can be closed off. When they are closed off the stock pipe exits the gas fumes.

I would appreciate further info.

Thanks

Richard

Hi Richard

Sycip Designs make them. Available through Pelican.

I believe Autofarm in the UK also make them.

Cheers, Cam

Cam thanks for the pointer. Pelican doesn't have them currently in stock. Is there another US supplier that you know?

Regards,

Richard

Ben made mine, it's great. I'll see if I can dig up a photo.

A pic would be a great help John. I'm in need of one also and it looks like Sycip will be "temp unavailable" for a LONG time.

Great news, Ben...the MFI. Seems there was a time where you weren't sure or you had not tried an MFI solution. Is that right? Did I miss a thread where you conquered the MFI muffler? I don't know what the big deal is, but I guess MFI is hyper-sensitive to back-pressure. And you have read all the posts that suggest anything other than the factory muffler or the sport muffler will rob horsepower. Any light you can shed on how you addressed this?

Thanks,

JA

Pipes are 2-1/2" or something like that.

This muffler meets the Lime Rock Sound limit. It's also quite strong- at the Club Race last weekend a man came up and asked "is your engine turbocharged?" And I said, no, why? "Because when you lift off at the end of the main straight fire shoots out of your tailpipe like a Turbo engine. I've never seen that on a naturally aspirated engine." I explained that the, ahem, MFI speed switch was a few items down on my list. . .

Nice looking muffler. Does this clear a stock bumper and license panel on a 69-73 car.?

Not really, the pipes will hit the license panel. I am using a fiberglass rear bumper which Damon expertly relieved around the pipes so it fits and looks like a 911R.

Put this modified Dansk on last night that I had stashed away...

I was going to sell it but now I'm not so sure I kind of like 3 pipes now!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NL6yQjkCWI

I assume the extra pipes will lean out the mixture and I should richen it to compensate?

Those caps are in backwards they are suppose to look like nothing is in there

Anyhow in regards to MFI. I have many customers try them out all with good success so pretty sure the MFI issue is more tuning for exhaust changes

Hey Bob

Here's a couple of Pics....

Yes it does drone a little around 2-2500rpm

Turns heads when it rips in the upper rev range though

Cameron: I need to see more pictures of that 911R. The color looks great! Can you post a few more pictures of the complete car? Is that signal orange?
