911 3.2 question?
911 3.2 question.
I have a 1985 911. Seems to run pretty good. Has good oil pressure. However today it started smoking out of the exhaust pipe really bad. Oil pressure is still good and it pulls strong. Just smokes. (blueish) This weekend my son added oil and it looks like he added too much. It's above the full mark. Can this be the problem or is it likely something more expensive? Thanks. |

Yes. The excess oil is entering your airbox through the breather and being burned in the engine. Drain enough oil to get down to about the middle on the dipstick's fill level range.

Be sure that your son know only to check the oil when the car is level, idling, and with warm oil.

Welcome to the board. As said above it is over filled as the car needs to be at operating temperature to accurately check the oil. When the oil is cold it will show that it is low. Normally the level should be half way between the full and empty mark. As customary, with new members, we need to see some pictures of your car
