weber carb specs needed for 2.4S high compression
 

I have an engine that has 2.2E pistons, 2.4-2.7 crank so it is a high compression 2.4 (higher than normal 2.4S). This engine also has Solex cams.

Any informed opinions about how to set up the Weber carbs would be appreciated. Venrui, emulsion tubes, main and air correction jets etc. Most important to me is venturi size info.

I have a choice of 40 IDA or IDT does it matter which I use?

The guy that is building the carbs (well known in the Porsche world but big on privacy so I won't say his name) really wants to know what Bruce Anderson's advice would be but I don't know his phone number or if he would appreciate me calling him. If anyone knows Bruce or what Bruce would recommend that is a plus.

where you tune the carbs is pretty important........

You could call a reputable engine builder/Weber parts seller and ask him to sell you what you need. There are several such suspects on this board regularly and I'm sure that they would like to sell you the right stuff the first time. If you shopped around a lot you might be able to get the parts for $10.00 less but it might take you 3 tries to get the right stuff.

The guy doing my carbs is a bit "crotchity". He likes Bruce Anderson's opinions but doesn't want to talk to him. He asked me to get Bruces's opinion about the right set of the carbs for my engine and not to mention his name to Bruce. but like I said I don't know Bruce so that makes it tough. I'm willing to put up with this minor annoyance becuase I really want this guy to build my carbs and a set of IDS for my 67S. It has taken me a year to get up on his "waiting list". Kind of like he is the guru and he tells me to "fetch water".

I still welcome other opininions on this matter. Also anyone know if IDAs are better or the same as IDT carbs for my application?

Anyone know Bruce Anderson and can ask him the questions for me?

Ya don't have to know him.......he is senior technical advisor for PCA and lists his email in Pano so schmucks like me can ask him questions. I introduced myself to him at the 2006 Parade and thanked him for the help over the years......he looked at me like I just got off the turnip truck.:D

Thank you JP. I just emailed Bruce I will post his answers here. I was at the 06 parade too and I just noticed you are in Vancouver, I'm in Portland.

A good place to be.....cept last night......the orange light at sunset was weird and the thunderboomers were awesome (an over used word, but there they were :eek:).

Be sure to ask him if you can post his reply. He sometimes likes to use the answers in his columns.....BTDT.
