Help with Components & spec

Looking for some guidance please;

I have;
2.4 '72 block
set of new 2.5 Mahle pistons & barrells
tall 906 weber mag inlet manifolds
901 (911) gear box with factory LSD and ratios AMFSX

Car is LWB and will weigh in at around 1980lbs when done.
6'' fuchs on front 7R on rear.
Car is to be used for w/end blasts and trackdays only.

(i think) I want as close to a 906 (901/20) spec engine as it is as possible to do -
but have read up on several threads here...about it being unstreetable...

Should I..
Plough on and get some Weber 46's - 906 cams etc.
What is this going to cost realistically?
or,
sell the 906 manifolds, get some Weber 40IDS, some S cams...

What would you do...to get the most enjoyment out of the drive?

I should add that I am not overley technical and I won't be doing the work myself so if you could reply so as I can pass the info on that would be great...

The 906 or S cams will need some open roads to really get going and be appreciated. You need to wind them out all the way to the top. That is where the fun is, and it is A LOT of fun:D

If you drive in the city, you can't do this safely or you will make a lot of people mad.

So, if you have roads like here in California (think Targa Florio without the spectators), the engine would be "streetable". If you cant't get the revs above 6000 or need to spend most of your time below 4000, go for a less overlapped cam that will give better low end torque.

JMHO

Hi,

JMHO, but I would not use a 906 cam in anything less than 3.5 litres if it will driven on the road. Thats a very old profile and suffer serious drivability issues in smaller engines. Nowadays, there are FAR better cams,...:)

If the car needs to be streetable, I would use 40mm carburetors, tall manifolds, and something like a Webcam 120/104 or a GE-60 camshaft. That combination in a 2.5 makes a nice trackday engine that pulls over 7200 RPM with decent manners.

I would recommend that the rest of the engine will be safe to run at 7500 RPM,....... :) :)

As long as the ports match the heads, you can use them.

If the bottom of the 906 manifolds are larger than your intake ports, I would get some PMO ones, instead.
