Engine Tin Cuts for Tensioner Update

Does anyone have measurements or photos of the cuts necessary (in rear tin to clear oil lines) when updating an early motor to pressure fed tensioners? I would like to send my tin out in a powdercoat batch before my motor is together. Thanks.

PS I looked and surprisingly couldn't find this info. Seems like a lot of people would need this.

Hi,

You can see the cut I made on the picture below. I was two inches from the left edge and 0.5 inches wide, but it is not perfectly centered on the line. I suggest 1.75 inches from the left edge. You need to cut all the way to the bend.

Regards,
Aurel

Here:

In the 1st pic you can see that the cut is made all the way to the bend that is parallel to the edge. I put the right edge of the ruler in the middle of the sheet metal screw on the right... oops Sorry. Then I thought better of that and set it in mm and in the middle of the screw on the left for pic #2.

In the second pic, the line is about 60mm from the inside sheet metal screw. I did not have the luxury of a pic like this when I made my cut so it is a little off center and in a rough 'V' shape just in case. Make sure there are no sharp corners or your paint/powder coat will come off easily.

Enjoy!
