2.0S piston rings
Engine builders: what is the best piston rings to get for a 2.0S
engine. - Deves - Goetze - Total Seal - JE Proseal - Mahle Seems like there's a few opinions out there. Please include with your recommendations a supplier, some of these brands seem hard to find for 2.0S 80mm 1.5, 1.5 & 4mm application. andy |
Since I am in the same position....or state of rebuild...I am also interested in the answer.
I have been leaning towards Total Seal, but their set appears to be just the one ring, not the whole set. Can anyone verify this? Bob |
I've found a local (Australian) supplier for the Total Seal rings, now I
need to know if they are any good. Whichever rings I use will be going on the original Mahle S pistons which have some wear in the ring grooves but still within spec. If I do go with Total Seal, should I be ordering the cast moly or the chrome steel rings? andy |
Andy,
I cannot tell you what to use since I have no idea about your usage & parameters and requirements. I can tell you however, that chrome-plated rings are more difficult to seat but last longer than cast moly ones. Further, they are a bit more resistant to abuse. |
I'm trying to build a reliable stock engine for street use.
I want this engine to last as long as I do without needing another rebuild. andy |
