79 SC lost compression on #6

All compression readings ok except #6 @30 psi. I pulled #6 cylinder, and rings are ok. Intake gasket was cracked , and presumed leaking. Exhaust valve ok, but intake valve leaked like a sieve when I put water in intake port. Question #1, Could intake leak have caused intake valve to overheat and warp? There also seemed to be a 1/4 inch thin spot of carbon on the valve seat.. I since have had intake valve reground and lapped, and is now sealed, and should hold compression. Question #2 How do I get cylinder #6 back on over rings without pulling #5 head and cylinder? I cant seem to get at wristpin circlip in order to pull wristpin #6 Is there a procedure for putting cylinder back over rings without pulling wristpin? thanks for reading.

Can`t answer questions #1, but yes, you can put the cylinder back on the piston without removing piston. Using a ring compressor, it is described as the factory procedure, probly in Haynes manual. Not as easy as on a bench, but doable. Hope this helps a bit.
